with its lush live string and horn section, can’t stop loving you when originally released in 1990 was an immediate favorite in the uk, and represented famed house producer marshall jefferson’s movement toward utilizing live instrumentation in his productions. the track was released right around the time the kiss fm london launched as a legal radio station, and richard was support talent at the radio station launch party in hyde park london that was headlined by fellow chicagoans ten city.
the track also represented one of the last releases on the relaunched sam records imprint, before michael weiss ceased releasing new titles on sam and started nervous records.

originally released as a limited run cassette on low jacks editons gravats label in 2017, we now get an official vinyl pressing via l.i.e.s. krikor kouchian serves this killer soundtrack to the documentary arabie saoudite: les liaisons dangerousness where the french tv program focuses on the saudi royal familys support of wahhabism and the wests appeasement of saudi foreign policy, kouchian underlines and accentuates the content with a brooding blend of mirage-like electronics and minimalist drum machine geometries. a deviation from his previous works and he moves into appropriately darker synth territory with this one.

the flamboyant and off-kilter title track from rones latest album, mirapolis is one of the last solo tracks that the producer composed in the spring of 2017: its one of the rare tracks on the album for which i thought about the live performance. while putting the final touches to it in the studio, i imagined myself at festivals via memories of previous tours. i wanted to record a festive track, which completely stands by its funfair vibe. with this new four-track ep (including three remixes), combined with a new video by aurélie castex, rone extends the carnival of electronic cultures of his latest musical citadel to the dancefloor – and our screens. johannes brecht, shadow craftsman of the hamburg label diyanamics studios, offers a refined reading throbbing with cerebral pulsations. appropriating the main theme in a subtle way, coated with multiple harmonic layers, his textures alternate white noise with organic basses that builds up to a delightfully classical cello outro. german-based figurehead of the south american scene, comeme label boss and founding member of the late closer music project, matias aguayo, has never ceased throughout his career to set off little revolutions on the planet of demanding dancefloors. playful and wild, aguayo sweeps in with a ritornello of chiptune sounds and orchestral arrangements, washing it over with a huge wave of analog synthesizers that destroys everything in its path. french techno scene boss laurent garnier embraces the original piece in all its meticulousness and its psychedelic lifeblood. a hypnotic and mischievous loop infiltrates itself without warning into the reptilian cells of the listeners brain.

roberto clementi delivers his cadmio ep on echocord sub-label echo echo this october, containing four original tracks from the italy-based artist. kenneth christiansens echo echo imprint, offers up its fifth release here, accurately reflecting his appetite for the more celestial, dubbed out side of techno. this release sees the return of roberto clementi to the echo platform after three releases on the parent imprint, echocord plus 10 years worth of released music to his name, notably a number of eps and an album on soma. the ep kicks off with a fresh dub induced charmer entitled conte which in italian translates to with you, and stands as an accurate tag for this warm and intimate opener. irradi follows, a more upbeat and industrious dance track – with euphoric synth lines sitting harmoniously in between the more uniform percussion before stimulating crashing symbols are introduced in the latter stages. title-track cadmio is up next, a more dropped-tempo, electro tinged number, with off-kilter drum patterns gracefully balancing amongst the alluringly sedative melody. the b2 and final track blue growth’ then provides a close to the ep with a lo fi 4/4 drum pattern together with hardened snares and crashes contrasted by delicate dub swells providing feelings of symmetry a theme that is consistent throughout the whole ep.

there is no elsewhere is haiku salut’s third album and sees the acclaimed trio from derbyshire continue their distinctive re-imagining of dreampop and rural electronica. influenced by the evocative film soundtracks of yann tiersen and benoît charest, the genre-melting electronica of early múm, and the impressionistic writing of haruki murakami, the band have previously released two critically acclaimed albums whilst last year they collaborated with public service broadcasting on the track “they gave me a lamp”, which featured on the psb’s top five album, every valley. yet it is this release that sees the band finally find their place, both musically and politically.

tribal pulse is 5 years old, and we re celebrating with a special series of vinyl and compilation releases, and parties in some really insane locations, including a unique birthday celebration in the beautiful highlands of scotland. first up we have boom merchant s i see the future available on 180g vinyl and containing contributions from italian slammin techno kingpin johnny kaos and maltese 303 sniper acidulant. the title track is a morphing, energetic futurist techno cut. a powerful, bass-driven groove works alongside complex analogue percussion sequencing and growling distortion before detroit-style chords and atmospherics move in to take you higher, before slamming you back into the dark groove once again. this one is a real bomb waiting to go off. for sub mission boom merchant combines forces once again with johnny kaos, and in keeping with the theme of the ep, the results are dark, distorted and full of flavor. the track roars through lashings of sub and relentless machine bleeps, drums and noises, jumping in and out of breakbeats with a monster reese bass chasing you down from start to finish. to round off the ep, acidulant does what he does best, stripping the original back to its bare elements, looping the vocal and creating a roland-heavy roller full of squelchy goodness. we see the future, and we are bringing it to you on wax. we hope these tracks put a smile on your face.

young cody currie makes his debut on classic with this sparkling star-strung 4-part 12 ep, ode to eddy. following covetable releases on razor-n-tape, pulse records and better listen, the budding london dj and producer demonstrates his deep and jazzy style in this release, expanding on his usual creative use of sampling by introducing his own vocals and live keys. the title track has echoes of fellow classic artist folamour, blissed-out synths and syncopated drum work creating an irresistible lilting beat. i dont feel has hints of acidity, never alone loops the vocal over a shuffling melodic groove and tale of tales (memoirs of a super freak) is the uplifting finisher. ode to eddy is a supremely promising introduction to an intuitive and gifted new artist.

rob belleville is a producer from the netherlands. his music can be found in the same space as producers such as arne weinberg, microworld, sean deason and drivetrain. he is know for moving between ambient electronica and atmospheric techno sounds, always warm and well produced. this release is no different, as here we have two very special tracks with the same integrity as anything rob has written in the past. on the a side we ve got implacable force which features a driving techno foundation and washy synths, interwoven for perfect headspace. the second track in is sungazing, which takes you into a more lazy groove with swirling, warm pads and more good drum programming. the b side features rise n shine and sands of time, both blurring the line between deep house and techno, with a fine balance between the melodic textures and tech house percussion. if you like atmospheric, melodic textures and quality music in general, this one is for you.

belgiums most praised dubstep label duploc has been consistently releasing two-track singles since 2015. the imprint curated by platform duploc.com now announces the launch of a new 12inch vinyl release series. catalogued as duplocv001, the first ep features no one less than label resident hebbe. the dutch up-and-comer was introduced to duploc in the beginning of 2018 with duploc020, as he was signed to crucial recordings and artikal music uk short after. now he returns to the label for the first volume of the new dupplates series. watch out is one of hebbe’s most anticipated tracks as a chest-oppressive weighty sub bass rolls through a distorted landscape of cinematic samples and sinister melodies which are constantly progressing. of course resident enigma dubz has to be involved in this first instalment as he delivers an incredibly stunning remix, hitting you with pure bassweight and powerful synths. on the flip side, compatriot melle and the like-minded mr.k enthusiastically accompany hebbe to unleash both the bouncing wayside as well as the murky lemon twist, two highly overdue cuts. the dupplates vol. 1 is an essential in your record collection and marks a first much promising episode for the next to come on duplocs prestigious series.
